Adobe Illustrator Illustration

For my Adobe Illustrator creation, I decided to goof around and use something silly. I played around with the calligraphic tools, text, and gradients.

FInal Project

Originally, I proposed taking and editing a short video for the final. I had planned to make something conceptual and perhaps a little humorous.

In the end, I turned out using a time lapse application for my android phone to record a time lapse of scrolling across a row of Naked juice. The application is professionally rated and is called "Lapse It Pro". I have found it completely up to par with what any professional would hope for with high quality image options. I then transferred this to Adobe Photoshop and used Adobe Illustrator to assist in rotoscoping with the Image Trace function. Transferring between programs was at times tricky, but all the while worth the struggle.

While I would have liked in the beginning to have made the video all straightened out, with the last few images facing the right way, I have grown to like the sideways (accidental) technique as it provides an eerie sort of dysfunction to the images. I attempted to fade the images into a lesser quality in the middle of the Naked juices, which I struggled with enjoying visually. However, I had originally wanted to do this anyway to express the variety in quality of consumer products as a whole, even those that claim to be perfect. In this way, I completed my terms of creating a conceptual piece.

If I had to change the project, I would give the beginning photos a higher quality. I believe, when taking the shots, I missed the option to create a 1080p image set, which I did not notice until later on. I additionally would, if I decided to continue, want to create more frames for a smoother transition between images. I would even consider changing the entire project from a time lapse to an actual video, working with equipment that would allow a smooth pan.

Color Editing

Before; this was the original photo as it came out of the camera.

After; this was the photo after it was edited. I used the functions auto color and I played with the saturation, lessening it. Afterwards, I enhanced the reds selectively in the skin and tie.

Before; this was the photo as it appeared out of the camera.
After; this is the photo after it was edited. I removed much of the saturation and color first. Afterwards, I enhanced the reds, greens, and blues exclusively in the plugs so as to emphasize them.

3-Piece Portfolio, February 12

The above piece is a digital painting. I edited out the bottom (useless) bar of color that was there since this was previously posted.
This image is the edited version of the previous picture. I enhanced the brightness and  adjusted the colors.

This was a photograph that I took last summer.

In this image, I enhanced the colors to increase the recognition of the summer setting.

External Project

The images above and below are designed according to my own specifications, and the guides are merely to point out the movement of the picture. I played with the positions of the towels and the lighting of the composition.
